John Soltys

Obituary

John E. Soltys of Fairless Hills died on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He was 64.

Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Soltys has been a resident of Fairless Hills since 1983. He worked as an administration clerk at the College of New Jersey for 25 years until retiring. He also worked at Macy's in the Oxford Valley Mall in the children's department for 25 years.

John was a long time member of Christ United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher, lay reader and member of the Choir in earlier years.

He was an avid Philly sports fan but his true passion was umpiring for many local baseball and softball leagues and interacting with the kids.

Mr. Soltys is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Dolores.

He was the loving father of Mark (Mandy), Crystal and Jarrod (Krista) and the devoted grandfather of Zachary, Francis, Annabel, Ariel, Delaine and Aleigha.

Preceded in death by his parents, Francis C. Jr. and Naomi Soltys, John is survived by his brother, Francis C. Soltys III (Patricia); sister, Carol Slakoper (Matthew) and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Family and friends are invited to call from 9:30 until 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Christ United Methodist Church, 501 Wistar Rd, Fairless Hills, PA 19030 where his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Interment will be private.

John's family urges that please, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name be made to Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, 3535 Market Street, Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
